It's been a minute since Vancouver has seen a HUGE dancehall show come to town but that time has finally come again! The Gully Gawd - Mavado will be performing live in concert at Fortune Sound Club May 22nd along side some of the cities best selectas. Vancouver's own rude bwoy Jahfus has just been added to the show which promises to be a do not miss event. Tickets have been selling quickly and are available at Dipt as well as various retail outlets and on line HERE.

Faction Sound Crew X Red Bull Thre3style 2011 World Finals

Since its inception in 2007 the Red Bull Thre3style has consistently gained momentum every year until it became the juggernaut it is today. Strictly a Canadian affair until 2010; the contest went international and became the benchmark for world dj competitions. 2011 has seen this phenomenon snowball into the biggest week in world dj competition, and Vancouver dj culture's respective history. Faction Sound Crew has been a proud part of this competition the last three years and are excited to share this week with so many great talents. 2011 Vancouver Redbull 3 Style DJ Arems Set

The Vancouver Redbull 3 Style went down Wednesday October 5th at Fortune Sound Club and featured 8 djs battling to see who's the best party rocker in Vancouver. Rules were simple - play at least 3 genres of music in 15 minutes and rock the crowd. Participants were:

Cherchez
Ricky Mars
and myself DJ Arems.
The end results were: Hedspin 1st, Flipout 2nd, myself and Friktion tied for 3rd!
Big up to all the people that came out to support and all of the djs in the battle. It was a really dope night.

MR VEGAS CONCERT - VIDEO

Although its nice to watch the video, it's really nothing like it was being in the audience. The energy that night was so prime.

Carl Aiken a.k.a. “Shinehead”/ “2Face”, began his artistic career circa in 1980, via the dancehall sound systems of New York where he paid dues until March of 1988 when he was signed to Elektra Records with the help of his long time friend – the legendary: “Jam Master Jay” of hip-hop pioneers: “Run DMC”. Already coming to the majors with a name for himself, not to mention tremendous talent, charisma and statesmanship, he stayed with Elektra Records until January 1995. In conversing with Shinehead and watching his concert, you get the idea of an articulate, yet “rough-n-rugged”, real-live, charming ragamuffin Peter Pan. His songs and live performances are generously seasoned with high energy, humor, plain old common sense, harsh reality, socio-economic commentary, matters of the heart, positive coaching in self esteem, especially for children & adolescents, tastefully done covers, craftily done twists of familiar tunes and yes his own brilliant originals.
